Sprint (S) recently declared that it reached peak speeds of 295 Mbps in three-channel carrier aggregation lab tests using HTC 10, one of first devices on the market to support functionality. Sprint is testing three-channel carrier aggregation in its labs to evaluate overall performance, speed, and reliability as it prepares for LTE Plus network deployment. Sprint COO, Technology, Günther Ottendorfer stated that LTE Plus uses some of most advanced technologies in wireless such as carrier aggregation and it’s a key part of their Densification and Optimization strategy.

Akamai Technologies decaled that it has added former Board member of Sprint Corp. CEO Daniel Hesse, as the newest member of its board of directors. The appointment to fill a vacancy on the 12-member board comes as the Cambridge-based company is facing turbulence, with some high-paying customers abandoning its content delivery and cloud computing services in favor of their own in-house solutions. Hesse joined Kansas-based Sprint (NYSE: S) in 2007 and led the company through several acquisitions. He also oversaw the $21.6 billion merger between Sprint and SoftBank Group Corp. He called Akamai “a trusted partner to many of the world’s carriers” in a statement.
